Cindi Guthrie

As vice president of internal communications for Cablevision Systems Corporation, Cindi Guthrie oversees the development, execution and management of the company’s strategic internal communication vehicles and multimedia internal marketing programs that service Cablevision’s more than 20,000 employees.

A 14-year Cablevision veteran, Ms. Guthrie has been instrumental in helping the company to develop ways to more effectively communicate with its employees and to provide them with important tools that make their jobs easier.  Ms. Guthrie spearheaded the creation of the company’s Internal Communications department in 1998 and, after serving in various leadership roles with increasing responsibility, she was appointed to her current position in 2001.

During her tenure, Ms. Guthrie led the development of one of the earliest company-wide communication networks for disseminating information to Cablevision employees, both electronically and in print, known as the W.I.R.E. (Where Information Reaches Employees) program.  Today, W.I.R.E. continues to serve as a primary communications vehicle and is supported by more than 300 employee communications coordinators.

Under her leadership, the company’s first Intranet was created in 1999 and, over the years, it has evolved into an essential business tool.  Today, it interfaces with multiple, business-critical applications, and houses an interactive employee directory, executive chat application, and more than ten thousand pages of business-driven content.  She also launched several award-winning newsletters, numerous multi-platform internal marketing campaigns and other innovative programs designed to improve operational efficiency and to provide employees with the information they need to conduct business.

Ms. Guthrie’s work has garnered numerous distinctions, including two Beacon Awards from the Association of Cable Communicators, a Silver Mark Award from the Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing, a Platinum Award from the League of American Communications Professionals, and Cablevision’s company newsletter was named a Top 10 Employee Publication by Ragan Communications.

Ms. Guthrie received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Southern California’s School of Cinema-Television.  She is a member of Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT) and the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC).
