Cindy Pekrul is Vice President and Deputy Controller for Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. (TBS, Inc.). In this role, she leads the TBS, Inc. Accounting Center of Excellence (CoE), responsible for the accuracy and consistency of accounting and financial results across Turner’s domestic businesses and creating value-added efficiencies through process standardization, technology automation and information generation for company leaders. Pekrul is based in Atlanta and reports to Cheryl Ingram, Senior Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer for TBS, Inc.
She joined Turner in 2005 and has served in various roles including Vice President and Controller for CNN Worldwide and Controller Cartoon Network. Pekrul previously was an audit manager with Ernst & Young, LLP, and served as vice president and controller for Allied Holdings Inc., an international transportation company. During more than two decades in finance, accounting and audit, her broad professional experience includes responsibility for financial reporting, managing external and internal audit, financial system conversion leadership, financial controls oversight, SOX compliance and Disclosure Committee leadership. Notably, Pekrul has led the design and implementation of the TBS, Inc. Accounting CoE, creating the foundation for its scalability and future growth.
A licensed C.P.A., Pekrul earned bachelors and masters degrees in Accounting from the University of Florida. She is a member of the University Of Florida Fisher School Of Accounting Advisory Council and serves on the board of the Media Financial Management Association, a not-for-profit professional association dedicated to the unique interests and needs of business and finance professionals in the media industry. Additionally, she’s a mentor in the Circle Mentoring program for Turner Women Today, the company’s business resource group dedicated to inspiring, encouraging and empowering women to achieve their full potential.
