Cynthia Lau is Director, Affiliate Finance at AMC Networks in New York, which owns and operates several of the most popular and award-winning brands in cable television, AMC, IFC, Sundance Channel, WE tv, and IFC Films. She took on the role of Director in 2008. In this position, Cynthia participates in contract negotiations by providing financial and strategic analysis, and then monitors contract compliance after execution. She also prepares annual budgets and quarterly forecasts for the company’s Affiliate revenue based on contractual terms, historical trends, and industry analysis. Cynthia leads a staff of two people who manage all the financial expenses for the Affiliate group. Cynthia joined AMC Networks in 2005 as a Financial Planning Manager where she implemented new budget management and expense process work flows within the Affiliate Group.
Before joining AMC Networks, Cynthia was a Senior Analyst at Marchon Eyewear, where she managed domestic and international license and royalty payments to high-end fashion brands such as Calvin Klein, Coach, and Fendi.
Prior to Marchon Eyewear, Cynthia was a Financial Analysis Manager at Sony Music Entertainment, where she prepared budgets and forecasts and analyzed the performance of artists and album sales for major record labels such as Columbia and Epic Records.
Cynthia began her career at the public accounting firm of Ernst & Young, LLP performing financial statement audits of clients in the consumer products and entertainment industries. During this time she earned her CPA certification.
Cynthia graduated cum laude from the Leonard Stern School of Business at New York University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Finance. Cynthia lives in New Jersey with her husband, Norman, and their 3 children, Isabella, Jack, and Kaitlyn.
