Elana has been in the communications industry for over 21 years. She is currently the Vice President, Law-Policy for Charter Communications, which offers video, broadband, voice and mobile services across 41 states under the Spectrum brand. In that capacity, Elana serves as both project leader and attorney, providing legal advice and helping to create legal strategies in connection with the development and implementation of the Company’s regulatory policy goals across all lines of its business. Elana was promoted to her current position from Senior Director at Charter (after being promoted from Director) where her focus was on telecommunications law for three years.
Prior to joining Charter, Elana was Senior Regulatory Counsel at Cablevision for over seven years and served as the Company’s subject matter legal expert on all telecommunications and various cable regulatory matters.
Before Cablevision, Elana was a Senior Associate in the Communications Division at the law firm of Mintz Levin Cohn Ferris Glovsky and Popeo PC, where her primary legal focus was on communications law. Prior to Mintz, Elana was Senior Regulatory Counsel for Net2Phone, Inc., (one of the first VoIP providers in the United States and internationally) where she led the Company’s VoIP regulatory compliance and strategic policy matters.
Elana received her start as a communication attorney at the Division of the Ratepayer Advocate in NJ where she represented the State Agency in consumer utility and cable television matters before the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities, state and federal courts and the Federal Communications Commission.
