During 25 years as an executive with HBO, Sermersheim built and maintained a highly respected affiliate relations, sales and marketing team in the Southeast. She began in cable as Marketing Director for Telesis, a Midwestern MSO.
Throughout her career on both the operating and programming side of cable, she has given extremely active service to numerous industry organizations and activities. She is credited with co-founding WICT and serving as its first president. She was chair of the Foundation in 1995 and was significantly involved in the creation and early evolution of the Betsy Magness Leadership Institute. Shermersheim was also a co-founder of CTAM and its 2nd President.
Sermersheim is widely recognized as a strong role model for women and a champion of cable television marketing. She served on the Board of the National Cable Center for 10 years. Shermersheim was awarded NCTA’s Distinguished Vanguard Award for Leadership in 1980 and was inducted into the Cable TV Hall of Fame in 2002.
Sermersheim resides in Jupiter, FL and is currently traveling the world and enjoying photographing its people and wildlife. When home, she spends every day in the ballroom practicing for competitions and local shows.
