Katy Weber is currently the Regional HR lead for the Sales & Marketing Teams in the GCR Region of Comcast. She made the shift to telecommunications with Comcast in May 2010 after holding Regional HR roles in the Transportation and Food Industries.
Katy graduated from the University of Wisconsin/Madison with a BS in Elementary Education. After teaching Head Start Pre-school for a few years and working restaurant jobs to supplement her income, she returned to academia to receive her JD from Chicago – Kent College of Law. After passing the bar exam she returned to her roots of working in Community Based Organizations. She worked for Association House and the Midwest Women’s Center supporting women in the trades and other targeted populations in their workforce readiness.
Through her many and vast relationships with Corporate employers, a Chicago based food manufacturer, Vienna Beef, recognized her as an advocate and hired her in 1996 for their open HR Manager role. Katy has since remained in the HR field as it allows her the opportunity to utilize and fulfill all of her areas of interest and passion for – teaching, the law and servant leadership.
Katy joined WICT – Greater Chicago Chapter in 2010 on her second day in the industry. She has served as Treasurer (2011), Vice President (2012-13), President (2014-15) and is currently serving as the Immediate Past President. has lived in and around the Chicagoland area all of her life with the exception of a short stint of teaching Elementary School in Christchurch, New Zealand in the late 80’s. She currently resides in Palatine, Illinois with her husband, 3 of her 4 children and too many pets.
