LaTanya Butler is an accomplished sales and new business development professional, responsible for managing network multi-platform distribution media partnerships with cable, telco, and digital clients. As vice president, marketing and partnerships for TV One and CLEO TV lifestyle media brands, she manages partnership marketing across linear, TV Everywhere, on-demand, digital and mobile platforms. She is an exceptional relationship builder who has the trust and respect of clients to effectively collaborate and build successful partnerships.
In 2019, she led the partnership with CLEO TV and Spectrum to take the groundbreaking signature series, CLEO SPEAKS, on a five city tour. The tour kicked off in New York with scheduled stops in Raleigh, Orlando, Dallas and Los Angeles. The in-market activation gave dynamic women a welcoming platform to share their unique experiences and perspectives on issues facing Millennial and Gen X women of color today.
In 2017 she expanded TV One’s nationwide efforts to promote science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) among youth by launching its “Lights, Camera, Career” curriculum to schools nationwide, and in that same year she spearheaded ‘TV One’s Best Supporting Fan VIP Screening event in Baton Rouge, to promote TV One’s 48th NAACP Image Awards event which resulted in a Beacon Award for Cox Louisiana. She’s also collaborated with Cable in the Classroom in 2014 to launch TV One’s STEM program, “Where Education Matters,” and joined forces with Entertainment Arts Research Inc. in the development of Urban Game Jam, an in market workshop targeting middle school students linking video game development to STEM training.
Throughout her tenure at TV One, she’s held positions with progressive responsibility, including Director of Strategic Marketing, Sr. Director of Affiliate Marketing, and Vice President of Affiliate Sales & Marketing. Prior to joining TV One in 2005, she spent five years in sales and marketing roles working for notable companies such as Comcast Spotlight (Beltway Region), America’s Voice, Intermedia Communications, AOL and the National Medical Association. Her career started with an 11-year stint at BET with the network’s affiliate sales and marketing team.
She’s a current member of NCTA’s Public Affairs Committee, WICT’s DC/Baltimore Chapter Board of Directors and a former member the T. Howard Foundation Community Advisory Committee. She is a 2016 recipient of the Touchstones of Leadership Award from the WICT DC/Baltimore Chapter; a 2008 graduate of WICT’s Rising Leaders Program; and a recipient of NAMIC’s Excellence in Multicultural Marketing Award (Television Category), 2007; BDA Silver Award, 1995; and CTPAA Beacon Award, 1994.
Butler holds a B.S. in Management Studies from The University of Maryland University College and is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. She currently resides in Silver Spring, Md., with her husband, Michael. They have one son, Jason Michael.
