Laurie Rowlett serves as Director of Network Security in the Network Operations organization of Charter Communications, the nation’s fourth-largest provider of cable communications. In this role, she manages the Subscriber Services Security and Law Enforcement Response teams. These teams work closely with the company’s subscribers, law enforcement agencies and Charter’s internal departments to resolve issues of network security and abuse.
Laurie joined Charter in 2003 as manager of the newly created Internet Security Abuse team and was later promoted to senior manager. Upon her subsequent promotion to director, she assumed leadership of the company’s Law Enforcement Response function. When her team was moved to Charter’s Network Operations organization, her responsibilities grew to include Access Control Systems Management and Administration, a key component in maintaining a secure network.
Prior to Charter, Laurie served as a revenue assurance manager for Xspedius Communications in 2003, ensuring all telecommunications loop charges were accurately reflected on bills to the company’s customers and that acceptable profit-margin guidelines were followed. From 2002 to 2003, she worked as a national account sales executive at Qwest Communications.
In her role at WorldCom, from 1995 to 2002, Laurie supported the company’s national and global account service delivery and support organizations. Her responsibilities there included oversight of provisioning engineers, installation and maintenance technicians.
Laurie began her professional career in 1985 with MCI Telecommunications, where she remained until 1995. Assigned to a large reseller account in Dallas, Laurie served as the account liaison for all aspects of the reseller’s billing, payment and other account needs.
