Lisa Selden

Lisa Selden has spent eighteen years in the media industry spanning cable, film financing and music.  Selden focused the last twelve years on digital platforms.  While at HBO in the nineties, in a financial planning role, she analyzed the impact of nascent technologies like subscription VOD.  From there, she went to a Universal Music/Sony Music joint venture to launch a legal online music alternative to file sharing.

Using the same principals today, as Senior Vice President of Business Development for Viacom Media Network’s Music Group digital properties she negotiates deals to monetize VMN’s content on websites, mobile apps, connected TVs, social platforms and more.  In her role, she acts as both a licensor and a licensee of content for MTV, VH1, CMT and Logo.  Selden is constantly challenged by the new ways in which content manifests on new platforms.  She enjoys finding creative experiences to engage Viacom’s audiences on these new platforms while generating positive financial returns for the company.  Selden is also responsible for strategies around new businesses, budgeting and resource allocation.

Selden holds an MBA with concentrations in Finance and Marketing from New York University and an undergraduate degree in Economics from Syracuse University.  She lives in New York City with her two daughters where she volunteers at her children’s school.  In her downtime, she enjoys tennis and outdoor biking.
