Rhonda Holt is senior vice president of media platform technology and operations within Turner Broadcasting System, Inc.’s (TBS, Inc.) Technology, Strategy & Operations group. She oversees the delivery of TBS, Inc.’s web-based products, including website development, digital application development, deployment and operations for Turner’s new media businesses in news, sports and entertainment. Holt is also in charge of Turner’s media asset management. She is based in Atlanta and reports to Trish Jones, chief emerging technologies officer for TBS, Inc.
Holt oversees all 24-hour technical and operational support for TBS, Inc.’s digital web properties, including CNN.com, CNNMoney.com, CartoonNetwork.com, AdultSwim.com, Si.com and partner sites such as NBA.com, NCAA.com, NASCAR.com, PGATour.com and PGA.com. Holt’s digital media technologies group provides thought leadership and implementation expertise for broadband solutions that span live video streaming, video-on-demand and interactive application development for web 2.0 and 3.0 deployments.
Prior to her current role, Holt was senior vice president of digital media technologies for TBS, Inc. Holt joined the company in 2006 as vice president of infrastructure and operations for digital media technologies. Previously, she was vice president of grid engineering operations for Sun Microsystems, Inc.
Holt earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Florida, where she serves on the College of Engineering’s Dean’s Advisory Board and chairs the Computer Science Department Industry Advisory Board. Holt is a member of the National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communications (NAMIC) and Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT).
In 2008, US Black Engineer and Information Technology Magazine named Holt to its list of “100 Most Important Blacks in Technology.” She received the Women of Color in Technology President’s Award in 2007, Black Engineer of the Year Award in 2002 and a YWCA Tribute to Women in Industry Award in 2001. Most recently, she received the 2010 Red Letter Catalyst Award from the WICT Atlanta chapter.
