Shannon Tarkowski

As the Learning and Process Manager at Scripps Networks Interactive, Shannon Tarkowski inspires and trains On-Air Sales Assistants and Planners to become the best they can be in their roles.  Since launching the new Sales training program 2012, Shannon has been instrumental in developing the program curriculum and training materials.  In addition, Shannon has provided on-site and web-based training and mentored support to sales staff in the New York office as well as sales offices located throughout the US.  Her training duties include working with new hires and newly promoted employees to ensure they are educated in general broadcasting, sales processes and procedures, the sales planning system, and a wide selection of office applications and professional development ‘soft’ skills.  Her work with more than a hundred Planners and Sales Assistants and support staff has earned her the title of "guru" for her expertise in the sales planning system and office applications.

In addition to her  program development and training activities, Shannon is actively engaged in testing new software releases and providing support and reporting services to senior Ad Sales management.  She is also the designated Sales Subject Matter Expert in a multi-vendor system evaluation initiative.

Shannon began her career in the Chicago market as a Sales Assistant at Lifetime Television.  After a successful career as a Sales Assistant, Shannon became a Planner at Scripps Networks in 2006.  In Chicago’s very active agency market, Shannon maintained a large account list with more than $20.9 million dollars in annual sales revenue.  In 2012, she was promoted to the Learning and Process Manager and tasked with launching the new Sales training program.  Shannon has a Bachelor’s degree in Speech Communications and Psychology.  She is an avid reader (devouring most books in under a week!), and enjoys cooking for friends and hosting game nights.
