Sonia Kim is a Manager, Affiliate Sales, for Sony Pictures Television U.S. based Networks, which currently include Sony Movie Channel and Cine Sony. Her primary responsibilities incorporate developing the distribution strategies for these brands, expanding carriage agreements, and identifying new business opportunities.
In her role, Sonia manages and oversees all detailed analytical projects to identify key data points, market trends and competitive studies to support negotiations and the overall affiliate process on national accounts, including Time Warner, Comcast, Verizon, Cox, Dish, and DIRECTV. She is also responsible for managing sales forecasting and revenue projections, evaluation of operating budgets, and monitoring progress of target accounts. Sonia is responsible for the execution and implementation of the networks’ affiliate database that crosses multiple network business groups. Additionally, Sonia manages relationships with clients and their agents to understand complex client requirements and industry standards to deliver strategies that meet the business needs. Prior to joining the Sony Pictures Television U.S. Networks Group, Sonia worked for Sony Pictures Entertainment’s international operations team where she developed, implemented, and sustained distribution models and content management systems to support distribution of international networks. She worked closely with multiple teams to support the establishment of pioneering digital strategies in emerging platforms, including mobile and online.
Sonia’s experience encompasses varied disciplines of the television business, including product development, operations management, television programming, and sales strategy development and execution. Sonia has built a solid understanding of managing large-scale business for some of the world’s leading entertainment companies, such as Sony Pictures Entertainment, Warner Bros. Studios, and DreamWorks Animation. She is interested in focusing her efforts in gaining expertise in streamlining business practices to maximize profit, as well as management of revenue streams through strategic distribution planning.
Sonia is an MBA graduate from Pepperdine University’s Graziadio School of Business and holds a certificate in Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine School of Law.
