Tina Shah is Executive Vice President and General Manager for Turner Sports. Shah leads business and operational functions across Turner Sports and Bleacher Report including strategy, business development, business affairs, rights acquisitions, business partnerships, growth and innovation. A key area of focus for Shah is Turner Sports’ multi-faceted, strategic business partnerships with the NBA, NHL, NCAA and MLB, including expansive rights to premium sports content distributed throughout the WarnerMedia portfolio. Shah also oversees consumer and sales marketing, data, analytics and insights, and business operations teams across Turner Sports and Bleacher Report, as well as programming for Turner Sports. Shah reports directly to Lenny Daniels, President of Turner Sports.
Since being elevated to her current position, Shah was instrumental in Turner Sports’ enhanced multi-year rights extension with Major League Baseball and Turner Sports’ first-ever multimedia rights agreement with the National Hockey League. Under both agreements, Turner Sports has expanded its premium sports footprint with a new MLB Tuesday night franchise, over 50 regular season NHL games, extensive MLB Postseason and NHL Stanley Cup Finals coverage, multimedia rights spanning across Bleacher Report and the Warner Media portfolio, and Turner Sports will crown a champion by televising multiple Stanley Cup Final series.
Shah formerly served as Senior Vice President of Business Affairs, Turner Sports and Associate General Counsel, leading the legal team responsible for all of Turner Sports’ linear and digital businesses, including several multimedia rights agreements with the NBA and MLB, a groundbreaking partnership with CBS to present every game of the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship across linear and digital platforms, along with business deals with the PGA of America and UEFA Champions League, among others.
Shah was also instrumental in Turners Sports’ transformative acquisition of Bleacher Report in 2012, which has steadily gained in influence and is currently the #1 digital sports destination for young sports fans. She also leads teams responsible for all phases of Turner Sports’ partnership with the NBA to manage its collective of media properties including NBA TV, NBA.com, NBA LEAGUE PASS and the NBA App.
A 20-plus year veteran of the company, Shah’s business acumen and impact has been recognized throughout the entire industry. She most recently was named the recipient of the 2020 Cynopsis Top Women in Media Corporate Visionaries Award, along with CableFax’s 2020 Most Powerful Women Award. She also made CableFax’s 2020 Diversity List of Top 100 Influencers. In 2016, Shah was included in the prestigious class of Sports Business Journal’s Game Changers.
Prior to her tenure at Turner, Shah was an associate at the law firm of Alston & Bird.
As an active member in her community, Shah serves on the Board of the Atlanta Women’s Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of low-income women and girls. She has also served as an Adjunct Professor at both the University of Georgia’s School of Law and Georgia State University’s School of Law.
Shah has received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Florida and a Juris Doctor degree from Emory University School of Law.
